Our Canonbury Antiques Hertfordshire warehouse is open to the public and is packed the rafters with all sorts of goods – lots of art deco furniture, English dining furniture, art deco bronzes, architectural antiques, bronzes, pottery and Continental furniture. Most people who visit are instantly taken by how big it is and describe it as an Aladdins Cave as it’s stuffed to the gills with eclectic goods. It’s a favourite with interior designers.

Our large showroom is just outside of Potters Bar in leafy Herfordshire – and just 25 minutes North of London. Potters Bar is just 20 minutes north of Kings Cross station in London so we are very accessible. Heathrow, Stanstead and Luton airports are all approx 30 minutes away and hence we have visitors from all over the world. One of our specialities is of course art deco furniture and bronzes. We are big fans of the art deco aesthetic and nothing beats trying out this art deco furniture for size and comfort in the Canonbury Antiques Hertfordshire showroom . Sit at an art deco desk or in a deco club chair. Admire the patina on our deco lamps and 1920s bronzes. Please get in touch if you’d like to make an appointment or have any other questions.

Women have been using cosmetics since ancient times but the powder compact did not make an appearance until the beginning of the 20th century. By the 1920s and 30s there was a powder compact to suit the requirements and tastes of most women. They were being manufactured in a diverse range of materials such as bakelite, celluloid, shell, leather, silver and gold with decorations in enamel, rhinestones and tapestry. Some were hand painted and the compacts with Art Deco designs and exotic designs based on Egyptian motifs being very popular.
